4th Swiss Geoscience Meeting, Bern 2006

GUIDELINES FOR ORAL PRESENTATIONS

Lecture rooms

Each lecture room is equipped with a Windows laptop and a beamer, an overhead projector, and a slide projector. An additional laptop can be connected upon request. Since the lecture rooms are quite large, we recommend that you use a font size of 18 or greater. Assistants will be present in each lecture room and can help the chairperson and speakers.

Preparation room

The preparation room 214 (on Friday and on Saturday) is fitted out with the same equipment as found in the lecture rooms. The rooms are open on Friday, 24.11. from 16:00-17:30 and on Saturday, 25.11. from 07:30-16:30. If you require assistance and your talk is in the first session on Saturday (8:00-10:00), please come to the preparation room on Friday.

Presentation with Microsoft PowerPoint

We strongly prefer that authors bring their presentations on memory stick or CD-ROM and run it from the permanently installed laptop. Nevertheless, it is also possible that authors bring their own laptop (PC or MAC). Memory sticks, CDs and Laptops have to be installed at the latest in the break before the beginning of the respective session. There will be no installation during the session! We strongly recommend that you test the laptop and/or software for compatibility in the preparation room before.

  1. Memory stick / CD-ROM: Authors must copy their presentations onto the hard-disk of the Windows laptop before their respective session starts. Please check each slide to see that there has been no `magic' adaptation of your fonts during the preparation period and, if necessary, make the required changes on the hard disk copy.

  2. Your private laptop: Laptops (with their own power and monitor cables) can be connected additionally to the beamer and switched on before the presentation. The laptops must be installed, in the order of the presentations, before the session starts, they will be removed only after the session has ended. To insure against the possibility of failure due to some sort of technical incompatibility we recommend that you bring a copy of your presentation also on Memory stick / CD-ROM.

Other equipment

If you have special requirements (Video, DVD, slides, etc.) you must let us know by 1st November 2006 at the latest! (E-mail: sarah.antenen@geo.unibe.ch).
