3rd Swiss Geoscience Meeting, Zurich 2005

Friday 18th November 2005
Saturday 19th November 2005

The third annual meeting of interdisciplinary geosciences – following Basel 2003 and Lausanne 2004 - will take place in Zurich, at the University-Irchel, which is situated in a pleasant campus near the city centre.

The Geography Department of the University of Zurich, the Earth Science Department of the ETH Zürich and the GEOforum of the Swiss Academy of Sciences cordially invite you to come to Zurich to participate in the meeting entitled:

4-dimensional Earth – views through space and time

The meeting will start with the official release of a document on “The Future of Geoscience in Switzerland“. Lectures will then lead from the solar system to the deep interior of the Earth and sub-microscopic dimensions of rocks, to early man, soils, fire, water and the coming millennia. The second day’s symposia will focus on the development of the Alps and the Andes, space-based earth observation, measuring and numerical modelling of surface processes, human environments in the Holocene, global change and biogeochemical cycles, the forecasting of natural hazards and general socio-economic aspects of modern geoscience.
